Lighting is one of the important element of health. It should be sufficient enough to aid safe working and movement around the workplace. However, the lighting and its fittings should not pose a health hazard to the workers. To take care of the sudden loss of light, an independent source of automatic emergency light should be provided to avoid risks that may occur at such times.
Cleanliness should also be adhered to in all the workstations and in the general workplace. Waste material disposal should be carried out promptly and effectively using environment-friendly methods to prevent contamination and other health hazards.
The other sub-division in these regulations is safety. The areas discussed in this section are maintenance, floors and traffic routes, falls into dangerous substances, transparent or translucent doors or windows, doors, gates, and escalators.
