The last twenty years of her life were plagued by various health problems but nothing could discourage her from fulfilling her mission of serving the poor and needy. Until her very last illness, she was active in travelling around the world to the different branches of the “Missionaries of Charity.” Sadly, Mother Teresa died on September 5 1997, and was officially beatified in October 2003 by Pope John Paul II and is now known as Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.
Mother Teresa was a living saint with exemplary gospel values and inspiration to the world. She may be dead, but her memory and the fruits of her work live on strong.
